33 Weeks – Intense 3rd Trimester Pregnant Nesting

(This is my second post about nesting. The first one can be found here.)

Ya’ll, this nesting instinct is kicking my butt! It’s all I can think about. The best way I can describe nesting (for me) is…

“What needs to be done before the baby comes? Because once the baby comes I won’t be able to do much of anything for a long time.”

Pregnant Nesting To Do List

So basically, my third trimester pregnant nesting is overshadowed by

  • spring cleaning (in the fall)
  • landscaping (tearing down azalea bushes)
  • furniture rearranging (my poor husband doesn’t know where anything is)
  • re-purposing (oy)
  • cleaning (magic erasers are the best things ever)
  • purging (anybody need some junk/treasures?)
  • and even construction (ceiling tiles had to go!)

I don’t “exercise’ in the American sense, but nesting is my exercise. My heart rate is up, I’m constantly on my feet and for the most part I am loving it!

My husband on the other hand… let’s just say that this nesting thing stresses him out!

Since G was born, the ceiling tiles in what used to be our masterbedroom had water damage on them. We finally pulled them down and will hopefully replace them this week!

This is my house. See the brown patch at the bottom of the first ladder on the left? Yeah, I chainsawed down an out of control azalea bush. Nesting is serious, people.

At 33 weeks pregnant my cute little sweater barely zips up over my belly. We’re getting closer!

As intense and justified I am in my nesting instincts 😉 , I am having to consciously make an effort to be loving to my family. Sometimes I get so stressed out over what needs to be done, what isn’t being done, and what is being done I forget that the whole point of all of this mothering is LOVING my family.

Pregnant Nesting Inspiration

A verse that has stuck out to me is Colossians 3:2-3 which says,

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

Yeah, a lot of my nesting stuff needs to get done, but not at the cost of snapping at my husband or losing patience with my son. If it weren’t for them, I would have nothing to prepare for! So thanks, Matt and G, for putting up with my whacked out emotions, high expectations and go-go-go mentality.

I promise, I’ll eventually slow down.

When the ceiling is back up.

I never did experience nesting.

I remember my aunt out in front of her house on her due date hacking every single leaf off of her hedges. I was ten - that's how lasting an impression that was!
